Separator and interceptor alarms

AUTOMATIC ALARM SYSTEMS FOR OIL SEPARATORS (INTERCEPTORS) TO WARN OF HIGH OIL, SILT AND LIQUID LEVELS.

  • Warns of excessive levels of oil, liquid and silt
  • Tells you exactly when the Separator needs emptying
  • Reduces waste management costs
  • Designed to comply EN858-1&2 and PPG3
  • Can be fitted to separators from all manufacturers

Oil Separators (Interceptors) are typically installed in drainage systems below ground.  They are designed to trap oil and other hydrocarbons that have entered drains, preventing pollution incidents. If oil, silt or liquid reaches excessive levels, oil can pass through the Separator and pollute watercourses which may result in expensive fines and clean up costs for the owner.

European Standard EN858-1 suggests Separators are fitted with an alarm that warns of excessive liquid levels, and for the alarm to be fitted, tested, commissioned and serviced by a competent installer.

HOW THEY WORK

  • Installation:
    • An alarm system with three probe sensors is installed within the separator to automatically detect the levels of oil, silt and liquid within.
  • Warning:
    • If excessive levels are reached the alarm activates a claxon or beacon to provide an audible or visual notification of excessive liquid levels. For more remote applications an alert can be transmitted by text message.
  • Take Action:
    • Alarm warnings allow you time to take corrective action ensuring the safe and economic operation of separators
preventing oil passing through the separator and polluting watercourses which may result in expensive fi nes and clean up costs.
  • Guarantee:
    • The alarm system and sensors guarantee an increased level of safety and requires simple installation for bespoke monitoring of oil and petrol separators.

The range of separator alarms

 Mains powered separator alarm

Mains powered separator alarm

Ideal for new build sites or where mains supply is readily and easily available making installation efficient and cost effective. The mains powered separator alarm unit has an audible alarm and a liquid crystal display for status alerts. An output relay is provided which allows the use of an external sounder or beacon and can also be connected to further pollution prevention devices or your building management system.

 solar powered separator alarm

Solar powered separator alarm

Ideal for retro fitting to existing Separators or on sites where power is not easily accessible. The Solar Alarm removes the need for digging ducts and laying long cable runs, making installation effi cient and cost effective. The solar separator alarm alerts the user of a fault by means of a flashing amber xenon beacon or via mobile phone text messaging.

Technical details

A variety of controls are available that can be programmed to meet your specific requirements for maximum flexibility. A typical alarm would consist of a high level liquid probe, an excess oil probe, and a silt probe in each separator. However, if site conditions permit, the control can be used to monitor a varying amount of probes in a varying amount of separators.

Darcy manufacture, supply and install both mains powered separator alarms and solar powered separator alarms. For details and to request a quote please indicate your requirements and submit the form below:
